So you call yourself a Hoosier fan? How many national championships have we won? What years did we win those championships? What is the name of the hardwood that our beloved Hoosiers play upon? \nMaybe those are easy questions, but what about this: Can you spell Eric Gordon?\nThis has quickly grown to become a pet peeve of mine. As an active participant in the Crimson Crazies Facebook application, my hope was to unite with Hoosier fans for a common good ... winning! Unfortunately, most of what I have seen is a lot of apparently uneducated fools throwing idiotic rants around with no knowledge of true Hoosier history. Namely, those so called fans who think Eric “Gorden” or Eric “Gordan” or, God forbid, Eric “Gordyn” is the greatest thing to hit Branch McCracken court. Speaking of gods, Eric G-o-r-d-o-n is not one. He is a talented freshman, but he still has a long way to go. Best freshman since Isiah Thomas? He’s not even the best freshman this year.\nOf course what I’m saying may sound counterproductive to the fact that I bleed cream and crimson, but on the contrary, I expect nothing but the best because I am a true fan. I expect that not only from players but coaches and fans alike. The hype around Gordon has got me in a frenzy, and it’s not because he does or doesn’t live up to it. Do you know why IU basketball players don’t wear their names on the back of the jerseys? Because “INDIANA” is the only name that matters. We are a team. Sure, great players help make great teams, but in the end — and the end hopefully being a sixth national championship — it takes a team. A team of players, coaches and fans. So you can paint your skin cream and crimson, but if the blood, sweat and tears that should pour from your relentless support during each and every Hoosier game does not match, consider where your heart lies.
Are you a 'real' fan?
