A great idea

I want to commend and support a new initiative to design and place recycling bins on the campus (“Contest hopes to beautify campus,” Feb. 18). It has long been a source of concern and dismay for me to see this beautiful campus literally strewn with trash everywhere. I walk to IU a distance of only a few blocks and could easily fill a can with the trash I pass on my way. I hope the administration will support this effort in every way possible. We absolutely need more recycling on campus and this creative and colorful opportunity is a splendid idea. My only question is, why 2009? Why not NOW?
