Sold-out game draws excise, 127 summonses

During IU's football game Saturday, Indiana State Excise Police officers issued 127 summonses.\nMost summonses issued were for illegal consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages, according to an Indiana State Excise Police press release. \nOne-hundred and thirteen minors were charged with illegal possession, consumption or transportation of alcoholic beverages, and two adults were charged for furnishing alcohol beverages to a minor. Three tickets were issued for possession of fake identification. \nAdditional charges were filed for possession of marijuana, false informing and resisting law enforcement.\nSaturday's citations increased from 88 during IU's last home game Nov. 3 against Ball State.\nOfficer Travis Thickstun said in the release that the total of summonses has significantly increased since the beginning of the football season. \n"The tailgating crowd was the largest I have seen in some time," he said in the release. "Clearly, if more officers were available, we could have issued more tickets in the Red Lot and surrounding areas"
