SEASON 4 PREMIERE: 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, on NBC\nSUMMARY: Last season allowed each character to develop outside the Dunder Mifflin office, whether it was at Kelly Kapoor's (Mindy Kaling) Diwali Festival, Phyllis Vance's (Phyllis Smith) wedding or Roy Anderson's (David Denman) jealous outburst at the bar. The merger of the two branches introduced Andy Bernard (Ed Helms), a suck-up to boss Michael Scott (Steve Carell) and foil to assistant Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson). Also, Karen Filippelli (Rashida Jones) found a love interest in everyman Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and was a foil for secretary Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer). Jim and Pam's will-they-won't-they relationship worked for three seasons because the writers refuse to let it happen, a lesson "Scrubs" could learn after characters J.D. (Zach Braff) and Elliott (Sarah Chalke) have gotten together and broken up so much the viewer feels numb. The season ended with Jim turning down a job at corporate and returning to ask Pam out. She stared dumbfounded and accepted.\nPREDICTION: This season is sure to have awkward situations with Michael, increased competition between Dwight and Andy and, a blossoming romance between Jim and Pam.
