The Mathers Museum of World Cultures will present “Sounds of Brazil” at 7 p.m. Friday to highlight influential Brazilian music. Special guest Valeria DeCastro, a Brazilian vocalist, guitarist and composer, will perform songs from various Brazilian composers along with her own. Some pieces DeCastro will perform include Tom Jobin’s “Girl from Ipanema,” João Gilberto’s “Bim Bom” and other underground Brazilian pieces.\n“DeCastro is one of the most brilliant and authentic voices of Brazilian music in Bloomington,” said the press release.\n“Sounds of Brazil” is co-sponsored by Mathers, the Brazilian Association at Indiana University, La Casa/Latino Cultural Center and the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center.
