Your eyes, your style

Fashion always has been and always will be a part of my life. I wake up every morning thinking about what I will wear the next day. I can’t help it. What I and others wear will always be a part of me.\nMy philosophy on fashion is very simple: wear what makes you feel good. I cannot be more concise and to the point than that. Fashion, at its core, is the love of clothing and appearance. That means loving what you wear, loving what you look like and just generally feeling good about yourself. If you feel good, then chances are you look good.\nI look at all of my friends, and each and every one of them have strong and unique personalities and strong senses of personal style to go along with their personalities. Some are very feminine and classic, others more alternative, some trendy and risk-taking, others still different from the rest. Personal style and fashion surround me every day of my life. I cannot hide from it, nor would I want to. What makes us different makes the world go ‘round.\nIt is this question of personal style that has always fascinated me. What defines a person as “stylish” or “fashionable”? What drives a person to express himself (or herself) through fashion? In short, who makes the rules?\nMy simple responses to the aforementioned questions are as follows: You define yourself as stylish and you express yourself through your dress and appearance. YOU make the rules.\nNo one else can make the rules for you. No one can define who you are. My guess is that many, many people have tried. And, take my word for it, many more in the future will try and follow those mentioned above.\nBut the definition of true personal style and “being fashionable” in my book is being true to yourself, being who you are. If you want to wear tie-dye shirts and cowboy boots every day, do it. If you love leggings and Uggs, great (though I am not condoning this type of behavior). If you cannot go a day without a T-shirt and Birkenstocks, wear ‘em. After all, high fashion is in the eye of the beholder, so your eyes, your style.
