Thirsty Thursday not going anywhere

In regards to the “Sink the Quiz” editorial (July 5): As a fellow IU graduate, I can tell you Thursday night was the biggest party night of the week – we actually nicknamed it “Blackout Thursday.” That is because people would get so drunk, they would black out. But we blamed the Long Island Iced Tea pitchers from Bear’s on that. The major flaw in the argument is that students would just replace Thursday night drinking with, say, Monday or Tuesday. Plenty of my friends went to schools where Tuesday night was the big night, as nobody had classes Wednesday. The plan to make Friday classes mandatory to avoid binge drinking on Thursday makes no sense. People will do what they want. If anything, college students are resourceful, and they will always find time to party if they want to.
