A man exposed himself on 10th Street and Indiana Avenue on May 19 at approximately 10:47 p.m, BPD Sgt. Jeff Canada said, reading from a police report. The complainant was walking east on 10th Street going toward Indiana Avenue when a man pulled down his shorts and began to dance in front of her, Canada said.\nShe screamed, and he ran behind Yogi’s Bar and Grill. Police officers did not locate anyone afterward.\nThe man was described as being in his mid-40s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, extremely skinny with a light-colored beard, short blonde hair on the side of his head and balding.
Bar fight at the Bluebird Nightclub
Katelyn L. Heitmanek, 22, of South Lincoln Street, was arrested at the Bluebird Nightclub, 216 N. Walnut St., on Tuesday at approximately 1:27 a.m. for battery, criminal mischief and resisting an arrest, said Canada, reading from a police report.\nBPD Officer Tracy Headley was already at the scene when two females began fighting on the ramp leading up the establishment. \nAccording to the police report read by Canada, Heitmanek attacked the victim, 22, because she had slept with her boyfriend. Heitmanek waited outside of Bluebird for her, grabbed her glasses off and punched her in the face. \nOfficer Hedley told them to stop when Heitmanek got scared and ran away. BPD Officer Jon Hoffmeister chased her and caught her in an alley. \nHoffmeister interviewed Heitmanek, where she admitted to hitting the victim because her boyfriend had sex with her. \nAccording to police reports, both Heitmanek and the victim’s stories were the same except for one detail. According to the victim, she contacted Heitmanek after she learned the boyfriend lied about being single and apologized, said Canada.\nHeitmanek was contacted by the victim, but the victim did not apologize and taunted her instead, Canada said, reading from a police report.\nWhen Heitmanek had her Miranda rights read to her, Heitmanek admitted that she “was not going to lie” because the girl had sex with her boyfriend, Canada said, reading from the police report.
Man breaks into Subway restaurant
On May 22, at approximately 11:41 p.m., a man threw a cinder block through the window of the Subway located at 401 S. Woodlawn Ave., BPD Sgt. Jeff Canada said, reading from a police report. \nAn employee witnessed the vandalism and immediately called 911. The employee said the suspect was inside the establishment for 30 seconds before he began running south, Canada said in the report.\nThere was blood found on the broken glass in the restaurant. The glass has been gathered for evidence and will be processed for more information.\nThe suspect was described as a white male, 6 feet 4 inches tall, about 180 pounds. There are currently no suspects, but anyone who has information about the event should contact BPD Detective Kevin Hill at (812) 349-3355.
