4 children still missing after abduction

Police: Elkhart man kidnapped kids, ex-girlfriend

Police investigating the abduction of a woman and her four children recovered two cars connected to the incident, but the vehicles yielded no clues to the whereabouts of the captives or the gunman believed to be holding them.\nPolice in Indiana and Chicago and the FBI were searching Sunday for the gunman, 30-year-old Jerry D. White. Elkhart police named him in an arrest warrant for attempted murder and several counts of confinement.\nWhite was believed to be holding his ex-girlfriend, 31-year-old Kimberly N. Walker, and their four children: Jaylan Walker, 9; Justin Walker, 8; Kyara Walker, 6; and 16-month-old Kayla Walker.\nWhite, who has a long criminal history that includes domestic battery, was considered armed and dangerous and his hostages were said to be in extreme danger.\n"We have located both vehicles, but we have not located [the hostages]," Lt. Peggy Snider said Sunday.\nThe two cars, Walker's two-door Saturn that White allegedly stole on Friday and a Dodge Intrepid belonging to her sister, were both found in Elkhart late Saturday, Snider said.\nThe cars did not provide any additional clues to investigators, who did not know where White and the captives might be, Snider said.\nPolice issued an Amber Alert for Walker and her children after the abduction Saturday.\nPolice said White might have fled to Chicago, about 90 miles west of Elkhart near the Michigan border. White and Walker once lived in Chicago, and White has family there.\nPolice said White had apparently been harassing Kimberly Walker for several days, so her sister and her sister's boyfriend decided to stay with the family.
