UPDATE: IU falls 34-3 to No. 2 Michigan

Hoosiers fall to 5-6, 3-4 in conference

With the seniors playing their last game at Memorial Stadium, the IU football team fell 34-3 to No. 2 Michigan Saturday. The loss dropped the Hoosiers to 5-6 overall this season and 3-4 in Big Ten play.\nIU will have one more chance to gain bowl eligibility next week at Purdue.\nThe Wolverines quickly gained the advantage, scoring touchdowns on their first two offensive possessions. Junior quarterback Chad Henne threw for one score while junior running back Mike Hart ran in for one of his own.\nIU got on the board early in the second quarter when sophomore kicker Austin Starr drilled a 39-yard field goal to cut Michigan's lead to 14-3.\nAfter the Hoosier score, Henne orchestrated another scoring drive finding senior receiver Steve Breaston for the 62-yard reception touchdown.\nAfter a Leslie Majors interception, the Hoosiers appeared to be on the brink of scoring their first touchdown until freshman quarterback Kellen Lewis threw an interception in the end zone with just a minute remaining in the second quarter.\nAt the beginning of the second half, the Wolverines defense held IU on its first possession forcing a punt. Breaston returned the 48-yard Tyson Beattie punt 83 yards for the special teams score, extending Michigan's lead to 28-3.\nThe Wolverines would score once more to get to the final score of 34-3.
