Just some 'Basic' shit

Sharon Stone is back in the sequel to the thriller that sent her to stardom. Hollywood is also back. Back to making absolutely absurd movies that shouldn't be found anywhere near a movie theater.\nThe need to make a sequel to every single success just boggles my mind. Hollywood should simply learn to put out a good movie and leave it at that. "Basic Instinct 2" is nothing but trash, similarly to many recent sequels.\nThe opening scene has some action and is somewhat amusing making audiences think that this could be a decent movie, but quite frankly the best part of the movie was the transition to the closing credits.\nIn this film casualty, Catherine Tramell (Stone) is once again in trouble with the law and on trial for murder. The police hire Dr. Michael Glass (David Morrissey) to evaluate Tramell so she can be deemed a danger to society, but it is irrelevant as the judge closed the case. She ends up hiring Michael to act as her own personal psychiatrist and in the mean time gets into a large and ridiculous seductive game with him just as she did with Detective Nick Curran in the original. The problem is this seductive lark appears to be going on too far as people around the two start dropping like flies and each of their names come up in the police investigations.\nThe original "Basic Instinct" was a brilliant movie that mixed and pushed the lines of sexuality and violence. The difference between the sequel and the original is, the original actually had a good plot and an even better ending. This plot was terrible as it wasn't believable and the ending might just have been one of the worst endings ever. When Michael Douglas left he took all the talent and creativity with him as it is apparent that the only thing Stone provides is a splash of sexuality.\nThis picture might have also had some of the worst acting I've seen in a long time. Morrissey was so bad at times there were laughs throughout the theater. Although it shouldn't come as a surprise as he has had a rough time trying to land a part in a respectable movie his entire life. Stone also needs to face reality as she hasn't been part of a success in at least 10 years. This seems to be a rather common trend among the top people in this movie too, as the writers and director had little if any history of success prior to this disaster.\nWith the magnitude of suffering the audiences endures through this film, one might not think that it will get much attention for awards, but I think quite the contrary. I believe this film will be one of the frontrunners for the Worst Picture category at next year's Razzie Awards. I'm sorry to break your heart if you were planning on going to see this movie, but it is not worth a sit through. Pick another movie or do something else because this would be a waste of your time and money.
