Almost all animated movies lately have been great and very well done. With that said there was no reason to think that "The Wild" would be anything but another superb Disney masterpiece. Unfortunately this particular film wasn't anything to brag about.\n"The Wild" is about Ryan, a lion cub (Greg Cipes) who wants to be able to grow up and be able to roar like his father, Samson (Keifer Sutherland). After living in the New York Zoo his entire life he thinks the only way he will be able to do this is if he escapes to the wild. In an effort he would soon regret, he accidentally gets taken to the wild. Along the way Samson and the other animals run into things they would never have expected and it makes the search far more difficult than previously expected.\nThis movie has a shocking resemblance to the Universal movie "Madagascar." "The Wild" doesn't give audiences the appeal of a star-studded cast or the humor that audiences look for in these movies. "Madagascar" was a much better and more enjoyable movie because of the humor and status of a cast like Ben Stiller and Chris Rock in "Madagascar." One thing "The Wild" has over "Madagascar" though is the fact that it seems to have more heart but the sad part is, in this case, heart doesn't prevail.\nAudiences will be very disappointed if they go see this movie in anticipation of an absolutely hilarious Disney film that will live on in their minds forever, since this film isn't that funny. Of course "The Wild" has its laughs here and there, but they are few and far between. This also won't stick in your memory for years to come, because it is not as touching or dramatic like other Disney flicks. It is a great story that has lots of potential but unfortunately it is just another movie that stopped short of reaching the best results.\nA good family film every once in a while is a great thing, but this one is not a must see in terms of great animated movies. Seeing another movie or celebrating Little 500 would be a much better option than settling for this mediocrity.
Don't brave 'The Wild'
