WHERE ON CAMPUS IS THIS?

Answer: Philosopher's Path in Wells Quadrangle

Philospher's Path, which was dedicated Sept. 8, 2000, runs through the courtyard known as Wells Quadrangle. The courtyard is housed between Sycamore, Morrison, Goodbody and Memorial halls, which once served as women's dormitories. In the spring of 1965, the board of trustees decided to change the buildings into office and classroom spaces because of increasing enrollment, according to several Indiana Daily Student articles from 1965. All four dormitories were known as the Wells Quadrangle after former Dean of Women Agnes E. Wells, who died in 1959 at the age of 83. \nAccording to an IDS article from Sept. 11, 2000, Philospher's Path was dedicated in memory of former IU professors Henry Veatch, Jon Barwise and Hector-Neri Castaneda. \nVeatch, who taught in the philosophy department for more than 30 years, and Barwise, who co-authored 11 books and helped develop a software program for introductory logic students, were also honored with trees dedicated in their memory. A bench was dedicated to Castaneda, who was considered a pioneer in the study of the history of philosophy and science, according to the article.
