Beginning Feb. 3, Hoosier Bus will add Purdue University to its route to fit riders' demands, allowing students to travel between the two campuses on select weekends and breaks. \n"The Purdue route was created in response to many requests from students both at IU and Purdue, as well as family members in Chicago," said Yvonne Pevitz, public relations coordinator for Hoosier Bus. \nHoosier Bus' coaches will travel from IU to Purdue to Chicago and back select Fridays and Sundays, giving transportation opportunities to those who don't have cars or who do not want to fly. \nHoosier Bus specifically focuses on the needs of Chicago-area students who are traveling to Purdue or IU and back. \n"Lots of Chicago students go to Purdue for the weekend or on weekend trips between the two schools," said Jeremy Schwach, a Hoosier Bus co-founder and operator. "IU to Chicago is the biggest route because there's no real way for students to get to Chicago, and it's a good alternative to flying."\nHoosier Bus not only accommodates students, but also offers tickets to anyone looking to travel to Chicago or to one of the two universities. \n"We figured that because Indiana is a state school, so many people have friends at Purdue and in Chicago," said senior Sarah Wise, an IU student representative to Hoosier Bus. "Families, friends and students can use Hoosier Bus to visit their friends on weekends."\nThe IU administration has been very supportive of the service, mainly because it will give prospective students a convenient way to travel from Chicago or Lafayette to IU so they can visit the IU campus, Schwach said.\nHoosier Bus will pick up IU riders both at McNutt Quad and the Indiana Memorial Union, and will stop just south of the Grant Street parking garage across from the Purdue Memorial Union before continuing to the bus terminal near Oakbrook Center, according to the Hoosier Bus Web site.\nHoosier Bus offers $94 round-trip tickets from IU to Chicago and $59 round-trip tickets from IU to Purdue. \nHoosier Bus also offers one-way tickets that cost students $54 to travel to Chicago and $34 to travel to Purdue.\nReservations to travel to Purdue are necessary but are optional for trips to Chicago. \nHoosier Bus runs select weekends of major breaks and weekends tailored to the University's calendar, according to the Hoosier Bus Web site. \nVisit www.hoosierbus.com to find more information or purchase a ticket.
