IU student Jeffery Catron was arrested early Tuesday morning after the IU Police Department responded to a call of an assault in Briscoe Quad. \nAccording to the report, officers met with a female who told police she had been assaulted by Catron, her ex-boyfriend, early Monday morning. Other people in the dormitory tried to restrain Catron, but he still managed to strike the woman on the left side of her face, according to the report. \nWhen police arrived, they noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from Catron's breath, and he admitted to being both drunk and underage. Soon after, Catron began yelling and became belligerent, telling officers they would lose their jobs over the incident, according to the report.\nNo police officers were fired, said IUPD Lt. Jerry Minger.\nPolice believe Catron also struck one of the men trying to restrain him in the back of the head. \nPolice transported Catron to Monroe County Jail on preliminary charges of illegal consumption, public intoxication and two counts of battery.
