While Beck Chapel is a small structure compared to Ballantine Hall and the Indiana Memorial Union that tower above it, it is no less significant in the eyes and memories of IU students and visitors.\nThis nondenominational Christian chapel, which was a gift from Dr. and Mrs. Frank Beck, serves multiple functions for those who enter its walls. Beck Chapel was designed to provide a quiet place for personal meditation, prayer and study of all types, according to a Dec. 13, 2004 Indiana Daily Student article. It is also an attractive location for major celebrations, especially weddings. Couples are drawn to this chapel's intimate setting and rich traditions, and more than 150 weddings occur in Beck Chapel each year.\nThose who have come to this chapel have left their mark on it -- some more obviously than others. According to the same IDS article, Linda and Mark Wisen who were married in Beck chapel in 1960, donated the chapel's six stained-glass windows as a wedding present to each other.
