Window broken at IU greenhouse for 3rd time in 2005

IUPD officers responded to reports of an apparent attempted break-in at the IU greenhouse on Third Street. \nOfficers found shards of glass still in the frame of a window on the southwest side. The doors to the greenhouse remained locked, and a large amount of blood was found on the glass and surrounding pavement. The blood was taken as evidence, and Work Order Control was notified to fix the window. \nOfficers went to the Bloomington Hospital emergency room, looking for a person with lacerations, possibly on the arms, but they were denied information from officials who claimed it could not be provided because of patient confidentiality laws. \nMinger said the person might have broken in to look for "growing equipment." Minger said this is not the first time the greenhouse has been targeted. There were two other incidents this year. Hydroponic lamps worth $1,400 worth of hydroponic lamps were stolen Feb. 20, along with growing timers. IUPD officers responded to a burglary in progress March 4 when witness saw someone climbing out of a window on the northeast corner of the greenhouse. When police arrived, the suspect had fled the scene.
