Arrest made in fraternity fight

Student arrested for party brawl

A student was arrested for assault three weeks after an altercation ended an 80s-themed party according to IU Police Department reports. \nOfficers arrested Eric Morris Thursday in connection with a fight that occurred at Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity Sept. 3. \nThree weeks ago, officers responded to a call from AEPi that a fight between two young men had occurred in the backyard involving about 200 people. Officers were met by the house president who informed them that the house was having an "80s party," when an unknown white male struck Daniel Cohen, a member of the ho use. \nAccording to initial reports, Cohen told officers he was standing on the sidewalk outside of the house when he noticed a fight. Cohen said he went to break up the fight and got punched in the face in the process. \nBut witnesses claim Cohen initiated the fight, according the report. Witnesses told police Cohen came out the house, said a few things to Morris, then took a swing at him. \nMorris then turned and returned the blow, witnesses said in the report. \nPolice told about 150 people to exit the party after they noticed a strong smell of alcohol inside, according to the report. \nMorris is awaiting arraignment, said a spokesperson for the Monroe County Court.
