Kline finally gets his praise in Bloomington

Two weeks after the Hoosier faithful booed one of its own, junior Sean Kline returned to the lineup for IU coach Mike Davis.\nEntering to a hoard of cheers, Kline played six minutes and finished with two points.\nDavis said the Kline family appreciated the standing ovation the junior received after he made that basket.\n"Kline felt good," Davis said. "His mother, his parents felt good about that."\nAfter the controversy surrounding the booing of Kline Jan. 19, Davis said the fans are finally doing the right thing.\n"You don't help anyone by booing your team but the opposing team," He said. "Our fans are great -- great! Sometimes they get emotional about certain things. We have great fans. When they do something wrong, I think we should address it. He deserves a cheer."

Penn State a streak \nending game for White\nWednesday night snapped two streaks for freshman D.J. White.\nTied for fifth on the all-time IU consecutive double-double games list with 12, White scored six points against Penn State in his bid for No. 13, \n"I've been hearing about it," he said. "But I don't really pay too much (attention to) it."\nBy failing to score 20 points or more, White missed a chance to be the second Hoosier since Bracey Wright during his freshman year to score 20 or more points in three consecutive games.

Walk-ons provide spark\nSenior walk-ons Ryan Tapak and Mark Johnson saw significant action for the first time in a long while in Wednesday's win against Penn State. Johnson played six minutes and Tapak 21 minutes.\nThe only points the pair scored was when Tapak hit a key three-pointer with 2:15 to go to push IU ahead by seven.\nTapak said he didn't have time to think about the shot and that's why it went in. He said playing though wasn't a surprise.\n"I've been here for a while and I know what's expected of me," Tapak said. "I made a few mistakes defensively, but we've got to get ready for Illinois (Sunday)."\nDeChellis happy but feeling unlucky\nPenn State coach Ed DeChellis said he was pleased with his team's performance on the road.\n"For us it's been getting our kids to try and compete for 40 minutes and I thought we did that tonight," DeChellis said.\nDechellis said IU got the bounces and hit the big shots to win the game -- specifically Tapak's three-pointer and junior Marshall Strickland's three-pointer that bounced off the rim way up into the air and fell through the net.\n"We come down the other end and Travis Parker does the same thing," DeChellis said. "The ball goes up and doesn't go in. I was like, 'Jesus, I'm not living right.'"\n-- Contact Staff Writers Josh Weinfuss and John Rodgers at jweinfus@indiana.edu and jprodger@indiana.edu.
