IU SING 2005 Livin' Out Loud

Campus groups take part in age-old University tradition

Audience members filled the IU Auditorium Friday and Saturday night for IU Sing 2005, "Livin' Out Loud." Twenty-two groups performed seven-minute mini-musicals in an effort to be named overall winner. Vocalists and dancers entertained the crowd between acts.\nAfter several weeks of late night practices, the groups efforts would finally be showcased in front of families, friends and supporters that packed the performances. Backstage before each act hit the stage song leaders and particpants hyped themselves up and finished last minute preparations.\nWith elaborate, bright costumes, props and sets the groups put forward their best attempts to stay in sync.\nPerformances ranged from a Captain Planet skit to one showcasing several famous IU faces including Bobby Knight, Alfred Kinsey and Herman B Wells.\nThe event raised more than $5,500 in scholarship money for song leaders. \nAn awards ceremony concluded the event Saturday night. Winners were announced for Division A, Division B and overall.\nKappa Alpha Theta and Sigma Alpha Mu were named both Division A and overall winners, and Collins Center took home first place for Division B.\n"I've heard nothing but good things about the show," said senior Lisa Winternitz, member of the IU Sing Steering Committee. "Every act was the best I'd ever seen them"
