From Homecoming to Halloween, celebrate the festivities in style

Thursday, Oct. 28
Alumni Hall, IMU: "Yell Like Hell," sponsored by the Student Alumni Association (SAA), features student groups showing their school spirit by competing for prizes with skits, songs and cheers at 7:30 p.m.
Kilroy's: Halloween party with $500 cash prize for the costume contest, 21 and over Friday, Oct. 29
Asian Culture Center (807 E. 10th St.): Asian Alumni Association Registration and Welcome Reception from 2 to 4 p.m.
Mellencamp Pavilion: Field hockey featuring IU vs. Ohio State at 3 p.m.
Army ROTC Building (814 E. Third St.): Army and Air Force ROTC Alumni/Cadet cookout at 3 p.m.
Rose Ave. to East Third St., concluding at the Sample Gates on Indiana Ave.: 46th Annual Homecoming Parade at 5:30 p.m. IU Olympians are the grand marshals.
Sample Gates: Pep Rally with the IU Marching Hundred, IU Cheerleaders, IU Poms and RedSteppers at 6:30 p.m. The event will also feature fireworks.
Tutto Bene: Hallo-Wine, pumpkin carving contest, live story monologues, haunted wine tasting room, costume door prizes, Oct. 29-31. 21 and over Saturday, Oct. 30
Bluebird Nightclub: Dave & Rae and Halloween costume contest at 10:30 p.m., $4, 21 and over.
Gladstein Fieldhouse: 17th Annual Homecoming Brunch at 9 a.m.
DeVault Alumni Center (1000 E. 17th St.): Big Red Warm-up, hosted by the SAA at 9 a.m. Refreshments will be served.
Memorial Stadium Concourse (eastside): Jimmy Ross Memorial Tailgate at 10 a.m.

Uncle Fester's: Homecoming and Halloween Bash with 40% Steve and Stone Carnival at 10 p.m., $3, 21 and over. Sunday, Oct. 31
Mellencamp Pavilion: Field hockey featuring IU vs. St. Louis at 2 p.m.
Axis: The 2004 Homecoming/Halloween Bash will feature a $1,000 costume contest. $500 will go to the person wearing the best costume, and $500 will go to the person wearing the most erotic costume. You must sign up for the contest by 12:30 a.m. Drink specials include 32 oz mini monsters, well drinks and all Smirnoff products. 21 and over.
Recital Hall: String Academy Violin Halloween Concert at 3 p.m., free, all ages.
Rhino's All-Ages Music Club: Halloween Mock-Rock-A-Go-Go cover song festival with the Bradleys as Operation Ivy, December Falls (TBA), Applecore as Madonna and the Runts as Lars Fredrickson at 8 p.m., $5. all ages HALLAWEEN FILMS
ZOMBIE FLICKS: During Homecoming/Halloween weekend, the Cinemat will run horror-themed films including "Carnival of Souls" (with zombies), "The Hunger" (featuring David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve as vampires; also featuring a clip of a Bauhaus performance) and "Night of the Living Dead" (1968, more classic zombies). For the complete schedule, see the Scene section in this issue of Weekend. The films cost $4 each and are open to all ages.
INDEPENDENT MOVIES:To complete your zombie fix, the Cinemat will also feature an independent movie premiering at midnight on Halloween night. "Dream of the Dead," a short film by David Pruett, includes darkly-clad young men and women in zombie garb and dead attitudes. Admission costs $2 for all ages. HAUNTED TRAIN:This Friday and Saturday, the Baker's Junction Haunted Train in Smithville, Ind. near Bloomington, will offer haunted train rides, two mazes and a graveyard passage to celebrate Halloween. The haunted train offers kids of all ages seasonal activities. For the more fearful at heart, The Big Fright features monsters for adults to enjoy. Baker's Junction haunts are open from 7 to 10 p.m. at $5 per person. The site is located two miles east of I-37 on the way to Fairfax Beach. Take Smithville exit to Fairfax Road, turn right one mile on right and follow the signs.
HAUNTED HOUSE AT COLLEGE MALL:Local girl scouts present the Simon Youth Foundation Haunted House, open Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, from noon to 8 p.m., next to L.S. Ayres at College Mall. Cost is $1.
CANNED FOOD FOR SCARES:Halfway between Bloomington and Bedford off Old Ind. 37 is the Harrodsburg Haunted House, open 7 to 11 p.m., Thursday through Sunday. Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under and a can of food for Hoosier Hills Food Bank takes $1 of the price. AROUND INDIANAPOLIS
STAGE FRIGHT:Hardee's Fourth Annual Stage Fright at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Ind., north of Indianapolis, features the Carn-Evil of Souls 3-D Haunted Circus, the Prison of the Dead, the Cornfield of Darkness Haunted Maze, the Monster Midway, thrill rides, games and the Pyramid of Enlightenment Corporation. Admission costs $15 on Friday, Oct. 29, Saturday, Oct. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 31. Gates open at 6 p.m.
ICP IN CONCERT:The Insane Clown Posse will perform on Thursday, Oct. 28 at Verizon for a pavilion-only reserved-ticket concert at $25 per person. Hardee's Stage Fright will also be open that night. SCARING THE KID IN YOU:The Children's Museum Haunted House, an annual tradition in its 41st year, will frighten people of all ages from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 3:30 to 9 p.m., Thursday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 3:30 to 9:30 p.m Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
