For the fourth straight year, the Golden Boot trophy remains in West Lafayette, marking another IU women's soccer team loss to in-state rival Purdue. \nAfter a scoreless first half and despite five saves from IU goalkeeper Lauren Fabbro, one goal from Purdue's Rebecca Robison was all the Boilermakers needed in their 1-0 win against IU Friday in what was the Hoosiers' last conference game this season.\nThe Golden Boot is the equivalent of the Old Oaken Bucket for women's soccer.\nIU had opportunities to score the equalizer late in the game, but sophomore Lauren Lamping's shot was just wide left at 88:01, while senior Kim Grodek nailed a shot that just went over the crossbar at 89:44. "It was a tough game for us," IU coach Mick Lyon said in a statement. "I thought we practiced hard all week and were ready, but we did not get the job done ... we just have to learn from this game and move on," Lyon said. "We did not play well at all and we only lost 1-0."\nWith the loss, the Hoosiers are in eighth place in the Big Ten and now will face Penn State in the first round of the Big Ten tournament, held at Ohio State from Nov. 3-7.\nThe Hoosiers again had the advantage statistically, out-shooting the Boilermakers 17-15, with an 8-3 edge in the second half, and owned a 6-2 favor in corner kicks.\nIU had somewhat better fortune Sunday with their 1-1 tie with DePaul.\nIU got on the scoreboard first in the 17th minute when freshman Kristin Radcliffe started the action with a corner kick. Sophomore Missy Vierling took control of the ball and fed a pass to freshman Lindsay McCarthy for the lone IU score -- which was her fifth goal this season.\nThe Blue Demons scored their goal in the 36th minute when Kelly Lord launched a shot just out of the grasp of Fabbro who made four saves.\n"Our defense played extremely well today," Lyon said. "The goal they scored was our own fault for thinking the ball was going out of bounds, and we stopped playing."\nWith the tie, IU moved to 8-6-3, and the contest marked the last regular season road game for the Hoosiers. IU returns to action Friday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. against Butler University for its final home game of the regular season.
