IU faces Purdue in battle for blood\nStudents, faculty and staff are encouraged to donate one pint of blood for the annual IU and Purdue Blood Donor Challenge. The competition began Monday and will run through Nov. 12. Aside from supporting the lives of hospital patients throughout Indiana, the university with the most blood donations will be honored at the Purdue vs. IU football game Nov. 20. The blood drive is sponsored by the Indiana Blood Center, American Red Cross, IU Alumni Association and Purdue Alumni Association. To donate blood in residence halls or at the American Red Cross, call 331-1300.

Wrigh Place to hold Mexican fiesta\nThe Wright Place Food Court will hold a Mexican Fiesta night with meaty or meatless quesadillas, chips and salsa, and a south-of-the-border mocktails bar. Tour meals cost $6 or 6 Residential Programs and Services meal points and include a 21 oz. fountain soda or 8 oz. milk. The fiesta will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wright Place. Date auction at bar to benefit IUDM\nAs part of Dance Marathon week, the committee will host a date auction featuring IU basketball players and many more candidates. All proceeds benefit Riley Hospital for Children. The auction, which will be held at 10 p.m. Thursday at Kilroy's Sports Bar, 319 N. Walnut St., will feature music and entertainment.

GLBTSSS holds red shirt support day\nShow support for your gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender classmates by wearing a red shirt all day Friday. For more information, e-mail glbtyou@indiana.edu.

Local bands to jam for Jill's House\nUnion Board and the Residence Halls Association are teaming up to bring Jammin' for Jill, a battle of the bands to raise money for Jill's House, to IU. The Saturday afternoon event will feature five local bands competing against each other and fund-raising events conducted to benefit Jill's House. The event will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Dunn Meadow. The event is free, but donations to Jill's House are encouraged.
