CIA looking for recruits on campus

Agency searching for students with business experience

The Central Intelligence Agency is coming. \nRecruiters from the CIA will be on campus from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday for an information session at the Career Development Center, 625 N. Jordan Ave. \n"The CIA has been recruiting at IU for quite a few years, as they do at numerous other universities in the U.S.," said Patrick Donahue, director of the Career Development Center.\nIn addition to the information session, the CIA recruiters hope to recruit for Finance and Contracting Officer positions at the Kelley School of Business.\nSeveral of the CIA recruiters are Kelley alums who have returned to campus to recruit students, said Mark Brostoff, associate director of undergraduate career services at the Kelley School of Business. \nThe requirements to be considered for the finance officer position: are U.S. citizenship; being free from drug use; completing a medical evaluation, a polygraph interview and an extensive background investigation. \nThe prospective candidate must also have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and should have taken at least three accounting classes. Candidates should also have strong analytical and problem solving skills, and must have exceptional customer service as well as written and oral communication skills.\nThe requirements for the contracting officer positions are more or less the same, except that the candidate is required to have business courses -- which include two semesters of accounting, one semester of finance and two semesters of economics. Highly preferred courses include management, marketing and contract law as well as courses requiring writing, analysis and communication skills.\nThe CIA is looking for highly motivated, forward-leaning, bright college graduates. \n"It would be kind of cool to work with the CIA," Andy Gigax, a junior at the Kelly School of Business said. "They have good benefits and it would be nice to work with them to see how they work," \nThough Bortoff is not sure how many students the CIA would like to recruit, he said they have eight schedules for interview opportunities.\n-- Contact staff writer Hina Alam at halam@indiana.edu .
