As I read the press release posted in several Indiana newspapers about the new promotions the athletics department is implementing to bring in bodies to fill the empty football seats, all I could think is, "It's not enough." \nIf the program wants people in the seats, they can't use these not-such-a-great-deal promotions.\nThey have to go to the extreme to help a program with extreme problems. They have to stop overcharging students and just not charge them at all. There's a reason there are more students OUTSIDE the stadium than inside. They have to reach out to the community with free tickets to schools, community service programs, etc. \nAnd they also need to recognize that a Super Bowl contender right up the road charges only $15 for its cheapest seat. So why are they charging $35 for the cheapest non-bleacher seat? The real fans are going to be there, but the problem is there are only 25,000 of those to fill a 50,000-plus stadium.
