Crime show to air update on homicide case involving IU student Saturday night

The FOX investigative crime series "America's Most Wanted" will air an update Saturday night on the homicide case involving IU student Jill Behrman.\nThe show will air at 8 p.m. tomorrow on Bloomington cable channel 11 and Indianapolis local channel 59. \nAfter a 34-month search, the skeletal remains of the 19-year-old, last seen riding her bicycle in Bloomington May 31, 2000, were found by a hunter and his son in March 2003 in rural Morgan County, near Paragon, Ind.\nThe cause and manner of Behrman's death are still unknown.\n"The goal (of appearing on the show) is to generate more information and possibly the right information, or receive the right phone call, to match evidence and other statements that we already have to help push us over the top," Indiana State Police Detective Rick Lang said.\nFirst Sgt. David Bursten of the Indiana State Police Department said the hope is that an update on national television will deliver more leads for the case than the earlier airings.\n"If the (first) show had led us to any new information, there wouldn't be a need for an update," Bursten said.\nPolice have an interest in locating Kerry E. Silvers, 30, an escaped convict. \nLang, who took over the case almost a year and a half ago, said Silvers may or may not have received information from an inmate when he was in the Lawrence County jail. Police want to confirm whether he received that information.\nSilvers escaped the Lawrence County jail in 2000. He later escaped the Orange County jail in April 2002 by overpowering guards with a fake gun and a homemade knife.\nHe is still wanted for that escape.\nLang said possible whereabouts for Silvers include Lexington, Ky., where he has family. Lang will appear in the segment for the show and will be live in Bethesda, Md., the night of the broadcast for any incoming phone calls with information regarding the case.\nAvery Mann, a spokesman for "America's Most Wanted," said the update will run a little over six minutes and includes a picture of Silvers. \n"This will be an update for our viewers, also updating to them that her remains were found," Mann said.\nMann said this will be the third time Behrman's story will appear on "America's Most Wanted."
