The former student arrested on charges of theft from the School of Music has been arrested again. This time, he was arrested on charges of fraud and receiving stolen property, both Class D felonies.\nCarl St. Jacques was arrested Tuesday at the Monroe County Justice Building. He was there to appear in court on six counts of larceny.\nLt. Jerry Minger of the IU Police Department said the two crimes are linked.\n"We had a victim of one of the (music school) thefts that had a debit card stolen and a Palm Pilot," Minger said. "The debit card was used to fraudulently withdraw money from her bank account. When we arrested (St. Jacques) on March 25, he gave us permission to search his vehicle. We found the Palm Pilot in the trunk."\nThe student reported her wallet and hand-held computer missing from a music practice room in Merrill Hall, Minger said. \nUpon further investigation, St. Jacques was identified in a videotape recorded by an ATM machine camera. He was using the stolen debit card to withdraw cash.\nBefore his arrest, St. Jacques was heavily involved on campus. Although he was not enrolled in classes this academic year, he was pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree and served as the associate dean for the Young Eight, a black student group involved in promoting interest in classical music to younger children.\nThe IDS reported in April that fraud incidents like this one have been happening more frequently, with nine cases of fraud reported in April alone, Minger told the IDS.
