IU streaks toward Drake double-dip

After arriving in Bloomington early Monday morning on the red-eye from San Diego, the IU softball team was tired. Team members have no time for rest though, as the Hoosiers face the Drake Bulldogs (13-8) in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon. \nThe Hoosiers are on a two game win streak and have been victorious in seven of their last nine games. \nDrake is coming off a tough loss to Evansville after enjoying a four game winning streak of its own. IU and its strenuous schedule gives Drake no advantage because it is also amidst a long road trip. Drake, which visited Evansville this weekend, rolls into Bloomington for a doubleheader Tuesday, then moves on to Illinois to face the Fighting Illini Wednesday. \nThe Hoosiers offense has been potent as of late. Last weekend, IU scored six runs in the second inning with the aid of three errors committed by Southern Utah. IU finished off Southern Utah Sunday when junior Ashley Griffiths scored off an error in the top of the fourth inning, putting the Hoosiers up 8-0. Senior Val White contributed offensively against Southern Utah with two RBI's and one run scored. \nTo compliment their offense, the Hoosiers have had solid pitching to help shut down opponents. Sophomore Mariangee Bogado pitched four innings, giving up only two hits and striking out eight. Sophomore Megan Roark pitched the final inning of the game, striking out each of the three batters she faced. The Hoosiers hope to take advantage of their active bats and a shaky Drake defense to boost their record further above .500.\nGame one is set to start at 2 p.m. and the second at 4 p.m.
