Kappa Alpha Theta sorority will hold its 43rd annual antique show tomorrow and Sunday at the Bloomington Convention Center. Over 35 vendors will have a variety of items to explore this weekend, including jewelry, fine and folk art, silver, formal and country furniture. Many of the vendors come back year after year, so the antiques they sell continue to attract buyers.\nThe show will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Also on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m., antique dealers will take part in an antique caravan in which they will appraise items for the public. The cost of appraisal is $5 per item with a limit of three items per person. Admission to the general show is $7 per person, but group rates are available for parties of 10 or more. \nRefreshments will also be available to purchase throughout the show.\nAlthough the event is mostly planned and operated by Theta alumni, 14 active members have volunteered to help run the event, including junior and Theta Alumni Relations Chairperson Sara Foley. Projected from the numbers in years past, she said Theta hopes to raise over $11,000 during the antique show this year. The funds raised will be divided among several different organizations associated with the sorority.\n"The money raised over the course of the event will go toward Theta scholarships, Court Appointed National Advocates (Theta's national philanthropy organization), the Theta Foundation and local Bloomington charities," Foley said.\nThe Bloomington Convention Center has held this event for the past 12 years.\n"The Convention Center has been a great place to hold this event because it has a convenient location and all of the antiques can be on one floor of the building," said Charlene Renner, director of events and services at the Bloomington Convention Center.\nTheta President Alexis Blake said she hopes the fliers, billboards, press releases and other advertisements posted throughout the community will bring in a good mix of people to the show.\n"From what we've seen in the years past, we're expecting a lot of Theta alumni to come with their families," Blake said. "But the show is advertised throughout the entire Bloomington community, so if antiques are your thing, then you should definitely come."\n-- Contact staff writer Lori Snow at losnow@indiana.edu.
