Citing the lack of participants registered, the Student Recreational Sports Association has decided to cancel the Hoop'n Hoosiers basketball tournament. The SRSA hoped for about 28 teams to register, but failed to reach this goal. \nPublic Relations Director for the SRSA Meghan Matuszak said planning has started for the event's future. \n"At tonight's (Monday's) SRSA meeting, we discussed how we could possibly improve interest so that next year the event might be realized," Matuszak said. \nThe SRSA wants to establish this event to raise awareness of the group.\nWhat would have been the first ever three-on-three tournament benefiting the Jill Behrman Emerging Leader Scholarship fund was set to feature faculty, staff and students starting at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27 at HPER Wildermuth. \nTwo full-time undergraduate students receive this scholarship each scholastic year. To be a recipient of the $1,000 scholarship, a student must be active in the Division of Recreational Sports for a minimum of one year. \nIn addition, he or she must demonstrate character, leadership and civic responsibility through his or her involvement in the division, community organizations and IU.
