'Out of Time' bonus features cure insomnia

When most police chiefs encounter a double homicide in their town, they don't discover that all the evidence points to them.\nIn Out of Time, however, that is exactly what Matt Whitlock (Denzel Washington) has to deal with. After becoming prime beneficiary on his high school sweetheart/current illicit lover Ann Merai Harrison's one million dollar life insurance policy, Ann (Sanaa Lathan) and her husband Chris (Dean Cain) are killed. Whitlock's estranged wife Alex (Eva Mendes), a detective, takes the case. Tension mounts as Matt discovers the evidence points to him and he attempts to discover the truth.\nOut of Time is a decent psychological thriller with enough plot twists to keep viewers awake and interested. Although, it is by no means the most inventive film of its type. \nThe special features, however, will put even the most hardcore of insomniacs to sleep.\nThere is, of course, the obligatory director's commentary. Aside from that, few features even exist, and those that do are boring. The feature Out of Time: Crime Scene boasts a few interesting tidbits from the cast and crew, but most of it is the actors blabbing on about how wonderful the movie shoot was. The outtakes are incredibly nonsensical and unentertaining -- two dramatic scenes in which the actors started laughing at the end. Add a couple of screen tests for Lathan and Cain and a theatrical trailer, and there's a recipe for some of the world's most boring special features.
