BPP presents 30 short films\nThe Bloomington Playwright's Project presents an evening of 30 ultra-short plays by the BPP Writers' Group and other local writers at 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at the Bloomington Playwright's Project on 312. S. Washington St. Admission is $8 for the second annual Winter Ballot Box Blizzard, a fund-raising event showcasing the talent of Bloomington actors, directors and writers. Audience members will play an active role and vote for their favorites plays. \nCharlie Chaplin film presented \nat IMU\nIU Union Board Films presents: 'Modern Times,' (a new digital re-mastered print) at 8 and 11 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Whittenberger Auditorium at the IMU. Cost is $2 for non-students and free with a valid IU student ID. 'Modern Time,' Charlie Chaplin's last 'silent' film, filled with sound effects, was made when everyone else made talkies. Charlie turns against modern society, the machine age and progress. First we see him frantically trying to keep up with a production line, tightening bolts. He is selected for an experiment with an automatic feeding machine, but various mishaps leads his boss to believe he has gone mad, and Charlie is sent to a mental hospital.\nPanel discussion about war \nphoto exhibit\nIU Professor of Photography Jeffrey A. Wolin will moderate a panel discussion about "Killer Shots: Photography, Media and War," an exhibit displayed in the Fine Arts Building at 5:30 p.m., Friday in room 102. The panel is comprised of IU professor in the School of Journalism Claude Cookman; Vietnam War veteran, photojournalist, photographic historian and the director of Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago, Catherine Edelman; and IU professor of Communication and Culture John Lucaites, who currently teaches and writes about the relationship between rhetoric and social theory, visual rhetoric and U.S. liberal-democratic public culture.
