Pink Floyd shines in new dvd

Just two years before Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd was in its prime with most of its famous lineup still intact. The original members, minus founding guitarist Syd Barrett, are featured in the new Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii (The Director's Cut) DVD and for that reason alone it is worth checking out.\nWhile the 1971 concert footage of Pink Floyd playing in historic Pompeii, Italy comprises the majority, the best feature of Live at Pompeii is the footage of Floyd during their recording sessions of Dark Side of the Moon at Abbey Road Studios. This includes short interviews with each member, David Gilmour recording the solo guitar track on "Brain Damage" and a few band discussions that forebode the internal clash that would eventually end the band.\nLive at Pompeii includes an assortment of early songs and a blues jam with an actual dog barking recorded by keyboardist Wright in a Paris studio. \n Limited features include band photos, news clippings and a rather long interview with the director. \nAs Maben says, the best part about the film is the natural lighting of Pompeii and the wonderful shots of Paris. And for a bonus, there's the option of viewing the film in any one of eight different languages.
