Barenaked Ladies have once again delivered an upbeat, intelligent album. Everything to Everyone, their seventh album, follows in the footsteps of fun lyrics mixed with a little political commentary and just a touch of sentimentality.\n"Another Postcard," the first single, follows close in the steps of "One Week" and "Pinch Me" in its universal appeal, as it documents the frustrations of receiving postcards of dressed-up chimps in the mail everyday. Employing some sarcastic, social observation, the Ladies criticize the government ideal that retail is the answer to all our woes in "Shopping" and reveal their true nature as wimps in "Take It Outside."\nThe lyrics are undoubtedly genius, but the music's still the same. They've grown in their lyric-writing ability, but their songwriting ability sounds stagnant. Don't get me wrong. The songs are intricate and well-constructed, but I feel like I've been listening to the same album for the last five years, with only the words changed around.\nIt seems that the Ladies have to prove themselves commercially every time they come out with a new album. They might be able to do it again with Everything to Everyone but a little change might do them some good.
Undoubtedly genius lyrics, same old music
