If you give 'em enough Dope...

In this age of nu-metal bands such as Linkin Park, it is often tough for metal bands to establish a name for themselves. This is the case for Dope, a metal band that has not yet received the credit they deserve.\nDope's third album Group Therapy picks up right where their popular second album Life left off. Listeners will be treated to heavy metal firmly based around the structure of classic rock. The album starts off ferociously and immediately lets the listener know this band hits hard, but the first few songs are by no means your typical heavy metal fare filled with mindless screaming and muffled guitar sounds. \nThe first song on the album "Falling Away" has a melodic, classic rock vibe with a metal framework and some intense guitar riffs. This style continues throughout the album with other similarly jarring songs, and the intensity reaches its peak towards the end of the CD with the heaviest and angriest song, "Burn." With their ballads "Easier," "Sing" and "Another Day Goes By," Dope proves a versatility that sets them apart from other metal bands.\nGroup Therapy, building on Dope's second album, results in a unique metal sound that distinguishes them from today's nu-metal bands.
