'Come on over' and ride the Twain

I will admit it. I am in love with Shania Twain. From her great voice, her high energy, emotionally packed music and her gorgeous looks, Twain had the eyes of me and a sold-out Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis transfixed on her during her two hour and 15 minute concert last Tuesday night. \nTwain began her "Up!" show with a bang. Her stage set in the middle; it appeared Twain was behind a large curtain on stage. A woman's silhouette appeared, and the lights went dim. With the illusion of Twain on the stage and the familiar beginning chords of "Man, I Feel like A Woman" blaring from the speakers, all were surprised to see Twain running down the aisle in a Pacers jersey toward the stage. \nBacked up by a nine-piece band, Twain performed a variety of old and new songs. This included old favorites such as "You're Still the One" and "Honey I'm Home" to new songs of her CD Up! such as "Up" and "Forever And For Always". Her energy level in itself was impressive as only a handful of ballads were trotted out -- "Forever And Always," "From The Moment On," "Still The One" -- with the emphasis on keeping things lively. \nBesides just singing, Twain entertained with dancing and even had local drummers perform alongside her and the band for "(If You're Not In It For Love) I'm Outta Here!" Also, to include her fans in the show, Twain was signing autographs the whole time while singing. She invited several audience members to the stage, even dancing with a three-year-old girl for a song. During one of her songs, she made her way into the stands and sat next to some lucky ticket holders. \nPerhaps the greatest part of the whole concert was the encore. If Twain came in with a bang, then she went out with a blast out of this world. Singing "Rock This Country" passionately, Twain was in the midst of extraordinary fireworks and streamers falling from the ceiling. Twain proved once again that she is truly an artist with the talent and the showmanship.
