'Straight No Chaser' to hold tryouts today\nThe men's a capella group "Straight No Chaser" will be holding tryouts today and Thursday for next year's group. Today's tryout will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Tudor Room of the Indiana Memorial Union. More tryouts will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the Bryan Room of the IMU. Call backs for both tryouts will be Friday.\nBallroom Dancing Club to offer \n8-week seminars\nThe IU Ballroom Dancing Club will begin offering eight-week dancing seminars Friday. The seminars are broken up into three levels of ability. Each seminar will be held on Fridays in the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, Room 169. \nBeginners will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., intermediate dancers will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and advanced dancers will meet from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Margot Scholz will teach the courses. The seminars cost $45 for the eight weeks, plus a $15 club membership fee. For more information, log on to http://www.indiana.edu/~dance.\nReception planned for new president\nStudent groups will sponsor a welcome reception for IU President Adam Herbert and his wife, Karen, 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday outside the IU Auditorium.\nHerbert and student leaders will speak at the reception at 4:15 p.m.\nSponsors of the celebration will provide refreshments. Student group sponsors include the IU Student Association, the Union Board and the Graduate Professional Student Organization. \nThe Society for College and University Planners is holding a live telecast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday to discuss IU's strategies for decision-making about purchasing, building, energy and curriculum.\nThe event will be held in the Frangipani Room of the Indiana Memorial Union. \nIU to participate in sustainability conference\nTopics for the event include making sustainability a foundation for higher education learning and practice, the critical role of higher education in creating a sustainable world and the role of campus leaders in creating the transformative changes needed in higher education.\nThe IU Architect's Office, IU Council for Environmental Stewardship, IU Physical Plant and School of Public and Environmental Affairs will hold the event.\nFor more information, e-mail stewards@indiana.edu or call 856-0198.
