My 'Intuition' says to ignore Jewel

Are you hot? Jewel thinks she is really hot. Just take a look at her new video for the single "Intuition," a sudsy romp in which Jewel puffs her chest in self-absorption. There's another song on the record that is "a love song to myself," according to the liner notes.\nActually, though, after listening to her new album 0304, this is a woman making a throwaway pop diva record who knows that there is no future in a folkie singer-songwriter style.\nSo she decided to make the record that Britney Spears may well be making in 2010. She wants to be profound, sexy and funky all at the same time, and goes zero for three. Acoustic guitars are now background instruments for Jewel. Garish keyboards dominate this record. The sound is about five years too late, and the sentiments range between moldy and dull.\nThink the Osbournes are "freaky"? Yeah, Jewel does too. Wow.\nShe also wants to "make time stand still" with her man, but if she were that much in love, she would sure as heck perform more passionately than that. Her twee high register is at best ill-served and at worst obnoxious.\nMaybe she thought we would be transfixed by her body.
