My mother would like this music

('A Woman Alone with the Blues... Remembering Peggy Lee' - Maria Muldaur)

My grandmother and my mother would love this music, but then again, they think Barbra Streisand is a great singer and I just think she has a big nose. The premise of this album is truly noble. Maria Muldaur assumes the role of a lounge singer doing renditions of Peggy Lee's greatest musical works. Peggy Lee was huge in the jazz scene about 50 years ago and is considered one of the genre's first singer-songwriters.\nThe problem is that the music sounds like it's from five decades ago. Despite supposed modifications, Muldaur doesn't do anything to spice up the music or make it her own. I certainly wouldn't buy a CD where a guitarist was playing Jimi Hendrix; I'd just buy the old Hendrix albums. Likewise, if I wanted to hear that style of music, I'll listen to Peggy Lee.\nThe most disappointing part of it all was that despite having "blues" in the title when this is a straight jazz album. If Muldaur had the blues before, she's going to be feeling a lot worse when she sees how poorly this album sells.
