Medieval fantasy makes great RPG

Fans of video game RPGs should drop what they're doing right now and check out "Suikoden III" for Playstation 2. Don't look for stunning graphics or Hollywood voice acting here. Instead, gamers should expect to find themselves enveloped by an epic story. \nSet in a medieval fantasy world, the story unfolds in a rather unique and intuitive way. Players choose from one of three central characters. Two of the characters represent leaders of opposing sides engaged in an age old conflict, while the third attempts to peacefully maintain the balance of power between these forces. After this initial decision the story proceeds in chapters. Once one chapter is completed the player may choose from continuing onto chapter two with the same character or playing chapter one from either of the other character's perspective. Ultimately all chapters must be played with each of these three main characters plus two final chapters involving all three of the main characters and any of the 108 (yes, you read that right) supporting playable characters that are able to be recruited throughout the game. \nThis system provides for a truly masterful and somewhat non-linear delivery of a gripping story. Additionally, "Suikoden III" has an addictive skill system which allows for gamers to customize characters. The only real drawback to the game may be the lack of any type of in-game tutorial to introduce new players to this and some of the games more complicated mechanics, such as the equipment, rune (magic) and battle systems.\nWhile "Suikoden III" may be slightly difficult to jump right into for people unaccustomed to the series, its addictive gameplay and tight narrative will definitely satisfy any RPG fan, and just may place it as the premiere role playing game available on any of the next generation consoles.
