IU looks to continue winning ways

The IU men's tennis team is going to have to get used to the road. The team, winners of six straight, will take on No. 39 Northwestern and Wisconsin this weekend to begin an eight game road swing. IU doesn't return home again until the last weekend in March, when they host Penn State and Ohio State. \nIU is undefeated through six games for the first time in five years. But, five of those six wins have come at the IU Tennis Center, with the sixth coming at Notre Dame. IU's game against Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. will be their first out-of-state road trip of the year. \nThe No. 45 Hoosiers are coming off of a pair of 5-2 wins over No. 37 Louisville and No. 54 Memphis last Friday and Saturday respectively. Sophomore Jakub Praibis won out of the No. 1 position in both matches. \nNorthwestern improved to 5-1 last weekend with a 4-3 win over Indiana State. Meanwhile, Wisconsin shut-out Marquette 7-0 on Tuesday. The Badgers were victorious in both singles and doubles, as they won every match against the Golden Eagles.\nThe women's tennis team is also in action this weekend, as they host No. 14 Northwestern and Wisconsin on Saturday and Sunday respectively. IU (5-3) is returning home after a 7-0 loss at No. 30 Kentucky. All five of IU's wins have come at home and all of their losses have come on the road. \nAgainst Kentucky, IU played without seniors Karie Schlukebir and J.J. Levin and the team struggled in their absence. IU lost all six singles matches in straight sets, with only junior Linda Tran advancing to a tie-breaker, falling to Wildcat Sarah Witten, 6-2, 7-6 (4) at the No .1 spot.\nThe Wildcats are coming off of a 4-3 win over No. 11 Tennessee that improved their record to 6-4. The Badgers last played when they hosted the USTA/ITA Tournament, but went 0-3, losing to top teams such as tournament winner No. 4 Duke and No. 2 Florida. \nBoth of IU's games begin at 10 a.m. at the IU Tennis Center.
