The Hoosiers ended their fall rowing season on a successful note at the Head of the Elk Regatta Sunday. While Michigan State reigned supreme, the Hoosiers fared well in all of the races they competed in. \nCoach Mark Wilson said he was pleased with the team's performance and effort at the Regatta.\n"I feel good," Wilson said in a statement. "Last year, we didn't end as strong. We got stronger with every race this season. I know that the team is excited to continue conditioning and lifting. They are gaining confidence."\nThe Hoosiers rowed well in the opening pair's race. Seniors Emily Rumschlag and Stephanie Mast placed second with a time of 16:47. Seniors Erin Koers and Danielle Bird finished fourth with a time of 17:17, with senior Margaret Clark and junior Line Espedal finishing behind in fifth place with a time of 17:33. Sophomores Meredith De Costa and Kelly Schuiling came in at 18:02 to take seventh place. \nMichigan State won the race with a time of 16:39.\nThe Hoosiers also did well in the open 4 races. In the open 4 B race, the Hoosiers placed fourth with a time of 16:32. Michigan State finished 32 seconds faster to grasp first place. Representing that boat were sophomores Stephanie Weert, Sarah Meyer, Amanda Walker, Casey Schoenhoft and Kristin Storer. The open 4 C boat, consisting of all novices, finished sixth in their race with a time of 19:20.\nThe novice boats also rowed well. In the novice 8 A race, the Hoosiers placed fourth with a time of 15:24. Representing the boat were freshmen Laura Wharen, Lauren Anderson, Ashley Airis, Carly Schilling, Ashley Sylla, Katie Slavik, Barrett Belstra and Laura Teskoski. The novice 8 B placed fifth in their race with a time of 16:41. \n"They looked good," Wilson said in statement. "They stuck to their race plan and rowed well."\nThe varsity 8 A had one of their best races of the season. They came in fifth place in the open 8 race with a time of 14:32. The varsity 8 B placed 19th with a time of 16:12.
