Star player suffers ankle injury in 2-1 loss to Cal State

As quickly as the Hoosiers earned a No. 1 ranking, it looks like they're going to lose it even faster after dropping a match Friday night against Cal State Fullerton.\nIU (12-2-2) fell to Fullerton (6-6-2) in an intense 2-1 match, snapping its win streak at 11 games. The Hoosiers had not lost since Sept. 7.\nThe Hoosiers owned Fullerton in the first half, out-shooting the opponent 14-5, but neither team could find the back of the net.\nNot only did IU not score in the first half and suffered a loss as sophomore Ned Grabavoy left the first half with an ankle injury. Grabavoy did not play the rest of the game.\nIU finally tallied a goal less than three minutes into the second half to start the scoring. Freshman Brian Plotkin lobbed the ball ahead of senior Pat Noonan, and he scored IU's lone goal. \nThe Titans fired right back with a goal of their own three minutes later. Junior Brent Whitfield took a pass from sophomore Fouzi Elmojihad and knocked it in to even the score.\nNoonan struck back, and scored what seemed to be the go-ahead goal. But IU was whistled for one of its season high 14 offsides.\nWith seven minutes remaining, the Hoosiers were called for a handball in the box, and that set up junior Hector Orellana's game-winning penalty kick.\nSophomore Jay Nolly made a season-high six saves for IU.\nSunday's game against UC-Santa Barbara ran past publish time.
