NEW YORK -- An enlisted member of the Navy has been arrested after a fellow sailor fell to her death from a sixth-floor window of a Times Square hotel, police said Sunday.\nPetty Officer Brian Cooley, 29, of La Porte, Ind., was arrested on charges of second-degree murder in the death of Lisa Tedstone, 30, of Simpsonville, S.C., according to Sgt. Michael Wysokowski, a police spokesman.\nTedstone, who held the rank of seaman E-3, fell from the window of the Milford Plaza hotel and was found by a passer-by at about 3:41 a.m. Saturday, police said.\nThe circumstances surrounding her death were not immediately known, but police believe a dispute in the room escalated to a physical struggle, Wysokowski said. He later added that investigators were examining whether Cooley threw Tedstone out the window.\nA third sailor, whose name was not released, was also in the room, but may have been asleep at the time, he said.\nCooley, Tedstone and the unidentified sailor had been part of the crew of the U.S.S. Wasp, a ship that returned last month from deployment in the U.S. military action in Afghanistan and has since been docked in New Jersey.\nThey had checked into the hotel at 8th Avenue and 45th Street early Saturday after a night out in New York.\nCmdr. Terry Sutherland, a spokesman for the Naval Surface Force, Atlantic Fleet, said the Naval Criminal Investigative Service was assisting New York police in the investigation.\nSutherland said the third sailor was questioned and released.\nA message left with Cooley's family in La Porte was not immediately returned.
