Johnson Center places business students

The Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation along with the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership has placed 15 Kelley School of Business Masters of Business Administration students in internship positions. The internships are with 11 companies within the state of Indiana and three outside the state.\nThere are certain requirements students and companies must meet to be part of the program. Susan Martin of the Johnson Center said students must apply for the internships, and then their applications are reviewed by professors and others at the Johnson Center.\nCriteria for the companies require they have 50 million dollars a year or less in revenue and also have under 200 employees. The students also must work with the owner of the business, the Chief Executive Officer, or another chief officer of the company on a daily basis. This gives the student experience they would not get at a larger company, Martin said.\n"By working closely with key decision makers students are exposed to the high level decision processes and commitments needed to grow and sustain a high growth company. Likewise, the companies benefit from bright, capable students who are highly motivated to learn and contribute,"said Elizabeth Gatewood, director of the Johnson Center.\nAmit Munjal, who just completed his first year in the MBA program at IU, is the intern for Cornerstone this summer. Minton said Munjal is helping to redesign a Web site for Cornerstone, with objectives of shortening the sales cycle, lowering the cost of a sale, lowering the cost of distribution and shortening the distribution time. Munjal must make monthly reports to a professor at the Kelley School of Business and he will have a presentation to give at the end of his internship.\n"My internship at Cornerstone Information Systems has provided me an unparalleled opportunity to apply the tools and techniques of management that I gained during my first year of MBA at Kelley in a real life environment," Munjal said.\n"This internship has helped me … by providing me an opportunity to be mentored by the brightest, sharpest, and most experienced people, like the CEO and VP's of the company"
