Hoosiers tie for 5th at Buckeye Invitational

The women's golf team finished in a fifth-place tie this weekend at the 16-team Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. \nThe Hoosiers, playing their final event of the regular season, shot a final round of 307. They finished 23 strokes behind Ohio State, which won the tournament, and shot a final-round 284 to set a school record for a single-round score. Ohio State shot 899 during four rounds to win the tournament. IU and Furman finished 25 strokes back, with a 924. Big Ten rivals Michigan State and Northwestern finished second and third. The Spartans missed the championship by one shot, finishing with a 900. Kent State placed fourth. \nSeniors Natalie Tucker and Inga Snyder and freshman Karen Dennison led the way for the Hoosiers; all three finished with a three-round total of 229, good for a three-way tie for 14th place overall. \nThe 229 marked Dennison's best collegiate effort. Redshirt freshman Danah Ford fired a 78 in the final round, to give her a three-round total of 239. Ford tied for 33rd place.\nJunior Tiffany Fisher and sophomore Cara Stuckey also competed, but their scored did not count toward IU's final tally. Fisher finished in a tie for 41st place and Stuckey ended in a tie for 48th place.\nThe Hoosiers' finish ended a successful regular season. The victories the team compiled will be put to the test next weekend in the Big Ten Tournament in Minneapolis. The tournament begins Saturday; the season concludes Sunday.
