Go see a psycho Cameron Diaz

Vanilla Sky - R\nStarring: Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz \nDirected by: Cameron Crowe\nShowing: Showplace East 11\nThere are some movies that confuse for the sake of surprise. The filmmakers want you to scratch your head and ask yourself, "What the hell is going on?" Well, "Vanilla Sky" will, without a doubt, cause some confusion in the audience's mind throughout the screening.\nThis film will not make you leave the theater completely confused, yes, there will be many questions unanswered, but the complications can be figured out with some thought and conversation on the ride home. This doesn't necessarily make a movie great, but if you can continue the movie experience even after leaving the theater, that's always a plus.\nDavid Aames (Tom Cruise) is a very successful, good-looking all-around Renaissance man (not so much a stretch for the actor). He has an amazingly attractive girlfriend Julie Gianni (Cameron Diaz) and a great best friend Brian Shelby (Jason Lee). His life seems perfect, until Brian brings a date to Dave's party and Dave falls head over heels for his friend's escort Sofia Serrano (Penelope Cruz, who played the same part in the original Spanish version). This is when his girlfriend starts to become not so perfect and more psychopathic. \nNow this movie has about five different parts to it with a surprise at every turn. They're not always the best surprises, but it does keep the movie interesting. Also, ladies be forewarned, Cruise's face is scarred through a great portion of the film so he's not as perfect as he usually is (but surprisingly still beautiful). \nNow this is not the most amazing movie ever, but it is a movie that you should go see. Some will love it, some will hate it, but either way you will at least be thinking and asking questions throughout the film and probably for a few hours afterward. Questions like, "How does this tie in?" Why can't Cruise take the mask off because it's really creepy?" and "Would I still date Cameron Diaz even if she was psychotic?" Not all of these questions will be answered, but some will be. Either way, the movie is one of the best released over the holiday and one of the best of the year. Go see it.\n

This movie is great. Go see it in the theater.
