'American Pie 2' cooks up laughs

Rogers\nThe most disappointing thing about "American Pie 2" was that Shannon Elizabeth announced that she'd become a serious actress and wouldn't be taking off her clothes for the sequel. But despite the lack of Nadia's chest, Jim, Oz, Kevin, Finch, Stifler and his mom return to equal, if not top, the original pie-humping comedy. \n"American Pie 2" might just be funnier than the original. But the movie uses the same formula as the original, substituting different variables and scenes, and it really is just a recycled version of the first "American Pie." For instance, instead of masturbating with a pie, Jason Biggs uses glue. But "AP2" does manage to create some fresh humor, making it at least as good as its predecessor. Throw in deleted scenes and cast bloopers, and "AP2" is a DVD worth buying.\nThe best addition to "AP2" was the introduction of a new Stifler, mini-Stiff and Stiff-meister understudy: Stifler's little brother. The little Stifler mirrors Seann William Scott's cocky personality exactly. "AP2" also shows two girls making out, but the eye-candy comes at a cost. The guys must makeout for the girls to make out.\nI couldn't quite manage to find the 10 hours of never-before-seen laughs the commercial promised for the special edition version of "AP2." But the hours I did find contained some funny new scenes. The best deleted scene has the boys at Stifler's house playing the drinking game "asshole." They start arguing about the rules, because each learned a different version while away at college.\nSeveral deleted scenes were funny but deserved to be cut. One scene shows the guys taking a walk through their old high school remembering the good old days, while Kevin ponders his friendship with Vicky. The scene was cut and replaced with the guys having a heart-to-heart on the beach.\nThe behind-the-scenes outtakes and blooper reel is probably the best part of the DVD. It shows extended details and real reactions to the scene where the guys are making out in front of lesbians. \n"AP2" bakes up another sticky, raunchy and successful comedy, and the DVD's special features make the movie worth buying.
