Cafe Django a delight

Café Django restaurant is really one of a kind. Named after a Belgian gypsy guitarist named Django Reinhard whose life was guided by his persistence and amazing spirit, the restaurant is true to the musical background from which it gets its name. \nWith musicians playing on most weekends, Django is a great place for a romantic and wallet-friendly evening. The live music is the most distinctive feature of this restaurant. Last Friday, jazz student Benny Reid, accompanied by Jason Ellis on bass and Paul Johnston on piano, filled Django with melodic tunes.\nThe café is snuggled into a small house and makes for a very cozy dining environment -- an environment especially suited for dates or a night of quiet conversation. Within the restaurant, there is a bar, several dining tables and room for bands to play. While the atmosphere is nice, the quarters were tight enough that those who suffer from claustrophobia would be uncomfortable.\nOur portions of the Thai-type food were excellent. We were also served salad before our meal -- a very inexpensive service that many restaurants avoid. \nThe Momo appetizer, dumplings filled with beef, was delicious and served with a tasty sauce. We also ordered shrimp curry and Phing Jasha chicken. While the meals were large, we found our dishes to be rather bland, especially the shrimp curry, which tasted more like potatoes and peppers than anything else.\nIn addition to Thai food, Django offers other meals such as a New York steak dinner and fettuccini alfredo. \nOn the upside, the Kenwood White Zinfandel was very tasty. Django has a good selection of wine -- more than 10 to choose from -- as well as champagne. For beer drinkers, there are more than 20 imports ranging from Bass and Corona to the flavorful Woodchuck. Domestics were available, too, of course.\nOne of the best experiences we had at Café Django was the Django iced tea. This tea was absolutely unlike any other we have ever tasted. The drink is raspberry iced tea with lemonade, lime juice, lots of ice, and even little pieces of what tasted like lemon peels. It was amazing. We recommend ducking into the café after class just to try it out.
