Let us hear your voice

The urge to sound like Frasier Crane is irresistible.\nHello, Bloomington. We're listening. \n"We" are Travis and Alexis, your trusty opinion editors for the spring semester, and we are listening. Together, the two of us and the hundreds of you can create something beautiful -- this opinion page. \nBut here's the catch: It doesn't work without you. We're looking for your letters, your thoughts and your voices. There are several ways to write for this page. You could apply for a position as a columnist to write weekly or every other week on topics of your choice. The application for spring columnists is due Friday, Dec. 14 and is available at http://www.idsnews.com/marketing/job_opps/employ.html. We can't wait to read what you, our prospective columnists, have to offer. \nLetters to the editor are another way to make your voice heard in the IDS. Letters are limited to 350 words and are printed in the Jordan River Forum weekly. If you have an opinion on an article, column or an issue in the community, we want to hear from you. Letters can be sent to letters@indiana.edu.\nAnd lastly, guest columns are occasionally used to highlight subjects not otherwise covered or to provide a forum for someone not normally assigned a weekly column. Those interested in guest columns should E-mail opinion@idsnews.com.\nPerhaps you're noticing a theme here: you.\nYou are our readers, and you are what this page is all about. We want to hear what you have to say about everything. So go ahead. Tell us. Write to us about anything from how you think the University should be run to what to do about the squirrel situation on campus. Your input is what is going to make this page work. \nThis spring, more than ever, the pressure will be there for us to put together an informative page that can serve you. But we're ready to take up that challenge -- because we're your paper, and we are listening. In a sense, you readers are the boss. So tell us what to do, Boss. What do you want to see on this -- on your -- opinion page?\nIf you help us out, this page can be the place where your voice is expressed. We can help you laugh at times and think at others. We can provide a place for you to make your voice heard in the University community. The more you communicate with us, the better we can serve you. We look forward to facilitating the discussion this coming semester.
